Comparing the Volvo XC40 to the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Lexus NX

Here at Niello Volvo Cars Sacramento we are proud to serve our new and returning customers reliable Volvo models that they can love for years to come. One of our most popular models is the Volvo XC40. This small luxury SUV is fully equipped to do much more than get you from point A to point B. Every time you get behind the wheel you'll be greeted with state-of-the-art technologies, premium materials and an uncluttered design that makes even the most stressful roads feel relaxing.

The Volvo XC40 has some competition that you've probably taken a look at. The XC40 is most often compared to the BMW X1, Audi Q3, and Lexus NX. These four models share the luxury SUV name, but don't all share the same features and capabilities. We want you to make the best decision for your lifestyle and budget, which is why we've put together some of the major similarities and differences that the XC40 shares and doesn't share with these three models.

The Volvo XC40 vs. the Lexus NX

The final comparison we are going to make is between the Volvo XC40 and the Lexus NX. The Volvo XC40 comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission while the Lexus NX only comes with a six-speed automatic transmission. You'll feel the difference in the Volvo XC40 with smoother transitions between gears.

Both of these models include dual-zone climate control and leather-trimmed seating and steering wheels, but only the Volvo XC40 offers you premium features. Some of these features include a crystal gearshift knob, driftwood inlays, dual integrated tailpipes, folding parcel shelf, and door handle illumination. If you are looking for more luxurious design features than the Volvo XC40 will speak to you more.

The Volvo XC40 vs. the BMW X1

When it comes to power the BMW X1 offers one engine, a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder that delivers up to 228 horsepower and 258 pound to feet of torque across all trim options. This engine offers you up to 22 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway.

The Volvo XC40 will offer you more versatility with the choice of two engine options. The first option is a T4 with 187 horsepower and 221 pound to feet of torque. The second is a T5 that pumps out 248 horsepower and up to 258 pound to feet of torque. With standard efficiency coming to 25 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway, you'll outclass the BMW X1 from Sacramento to Davis CA.

The Volvo XC40 vs. the Audi Q3

Both the Volvo XC40 and the Audi Q3 have a lot in common. Their overall dimensions are almost the same, and both feature seating for up to five. Although these two SUVs are similarly priced, you'll get more power per pound from the XC40. Its 2.0L, 187 horsepower engine sends power to all four wheels, and the Audi Q3's 148 horsepower 1.5L engine only sends power to the front wheels making it less reliable in harsher conditions.

Both the XC40 and the Audio Q3 come standard with digital instrument displays. The Audi Q3 features a 10.3-inch touchscreen and the XC40 features a 12.3-inch display. You also sit higher in the XC40, giving you more visibility of the roads ahead. Both models come standard with rear parking sensors and LED headlights.
